I have a Match rifle for long range and the Scout squad was much handier in the brush.

Springfield Armory released the M1A National Match rifle in 1971. It was virtually an exact copy of the M14 National Match rifles manufactured in the 1960s. Since then, SA has added numerous models and configurations to its M1A line of rifles. One of those is the M1A Scout Squad rifle, which has become one of SA’s most popular M1A models. If you are in the market I recommend the Scout Squad if your set on .308 it uses the same gas system they have been making forever. That said we jumped on the Socom early – I had to have it when I saw it so perhaps it was early teething problems ?‍♂️. AR all day every day – mags a plenty , ammo a plenty , modular . lightweight and more capacity . The M1a Scout Squad is durable, accurate, and reliable — exactly what you want in a rifle, no matter where you are.

I have experience with the Leupy 2.5x, Vortex 2-7x, and Burris 2-7x scout scopes. The Leupy is the only one worth buying, IMO. The Burris and Vortex both have too much magnification and they sacrifice optic quality and eyebox for a pretty unimpressive image.
