First off I’d focus on killing Seath first. Logan gets out of jail by himself anyway if you kill Seath so why bother. After that go meet him at the chest room. Buy the crystal spells from him afterward, first off. Buy all his spells, actually, then make him angry by talking to him a lot. He’ll mumble a lot then he’ll just tell you to piss off from his „Research“. Then reload your save. You can buy spells from him and Logan at Firelink shrine after freeing them. Logan sells different spells in Duke’s Archives and after you buy them you can go back to first boss encounter room to meet hollowed Logan for his last spell.

No, if you kill him that early you will only get his hat. I believe you only get the catalyst if you finish his quest, along with the Tin Crystallization Catalyst and the rest of his clothing. If, hypothetically you could get the catalyst early, it would still be extremely not worth it, he later sells some of the game’s best spells, and you’d be missing out on the Crystal Catalyst. If you’re talking about that actual area, that’s not where he moves. He should be in the same room where you first encounter Seath and not the actual Seath fight.
