Wessex Vs Mercia :: Crusader Kings Ii General Discussions

So I’ve just started getting into ironman after realizing I just can’t force myself not to savescum. I want to know some good starts in 769 that aren’t dependent on pure luck but also aren’t too easy. I’ve started as Silesia, duke of Flanders, Austurias, Lombardy, Wessex, and Scandanavia successfully already (not ironman) and I feel like I’m running out of choices. I’d General Advice: 1. I would say pick an area you find interesting and play 3-5 games in that area as different rulers. 2. Generally, it’s VERY easy to become a king or emperor. You should NOT consider it a goal to become a king or emperor. You should consider it a goal to build/prepare a succession that will allow your heir to keep the core of your domain. 3. Petty
So I have noticed something rather strange. I went to war with Mercia as Wessex. We have the same size army roughly. When Mercia wins a battle they gained over 50% warscore per battle. A few years later Mercia declared war and I defeated their army and recieved 10% warscore even though that was their whole army. How is the game calculating warscore from

One of my favorite starts with regard to easier expansion is Petty King of Essex 769. You start with two counties and de jure claims on two more that are held by Mercia. The bad news is Mercia is much stronger than you and you also start the game as Mercia’s tributary.
Been trying to form England as Wessex, but haven’t had too much luck. Anybody have any tips or strategies I could use? What poor craftsmanship, I keep trying to give Paradox the beneift of the doubt but their games are just money making machines. They are built so simply and are so alike that it is just not worth me wasting any more money on their games. Unbelieveable , mods are better than the dlc they sell. It’s frustrating and disappointing.

Personally I tend to declare wars for Middlesex / London. Then wait for the brother to die in the scripted hunting event to inherit the petty kingdom. What are your strategies to secure the longevity of the Wessex dynasty?
(I’m fairly new to this game btw.) I started my first campaign as Wessex. Managed to get Alfred as my main character and fend off the vikings, great! Now I’m trying to expand and it’s a pain in the The initial plan was to conquer enough land through claimants to establish a kingdom of England, then just squash all opposition.
I really have questions about confederate partition succession type. In the example in the video Ireland and Wales splits off, but these are kingdoms in their own right. Will this actually create new titles. Like if I just held England would it split into Kingdoms like Northumbria, East Anglia, Wessex, Cornwall, Kent and Mercia. They could just generated a

England (Nothumbria, Wessex, Mercia) is an excellent target, very good duchies/counties, room for expansion into Scotland and Ireland for Empire of Britannia or later into Scandinavia for North Sea empire. and feudal
Say I’m the King of Wessex, and the Byzantine Empire took the Kingdom of England. Would I be able to push my strong claim on the Kingdom of England without the Byzantine Emperor intervening in behalf of one his vassals? Would my push for claim war be exclusive to me and the King of England? Same question goes for lower tier de jure claims like Crusader Kings II All Discussions Screenshots Artwork Broadcasts Videos Workshop News Guides Reviews Crusader Kings II > General Discussions > Topic Details Miles Jul 4, 2016 @ 6:37pm Crusader Kings II All Discussions Screenshots Artwork Broadcasts Videos Workshop News Guides Reviews Crusader Kings II > General Discussions > Topic Details Spcike Jul 27, 2024 @ 9:54am

Crusader Kings is a historical grand strategy / RPG game series for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 5 & Anyway Mercia starts attacking me as soon as I split my army into three parts sending 3000 + of my 13,000 + total to Northumberland’s capital and I split the rest into three groups of 3000 or so each one to Mercia , one staying in Jorvik , and a third to attack the constant forces in Merica that spring up in tiny groups of under 300 Crusader Kings II All Discussions Screenshots Artwork Broadcasts Videos Workshop News Guides Reviews Crusader Kings II > General Discussions > Topic Details Remy Jul 11, 2016 @ 7:31am
Take bits of revolutionary territory and do the same with Wessex and Mercia (if it still exists). With Wales and Cornwall in your realm, you can start on Ireland if you have a decent chancellor (18+ diplomacy, 20+ is better). My kingdom is small, only 8 counties in total. Some how through marrying a princes of Byzantinum my first born and heir has turned into the Emporer and has three duchies and eight counties. I’m anglo saxon and it is the year 800. Vikings raid Wessex and everyone hates my son who is foreign and a bad steward. What should i do? focus on Byzanium or is it a lost cause. I
They are most likely eventually going to have a decadence revolt. I’m assuming you started in 769 and if it is still pretty early they will have one. In my england game starting as wessex in 769 they broke apart in the middle 800’s. Just have patience the abbassids always break apart eventually. So what do you guys think the hardest place to start is. I think starting as Navara in the 866 start date is pretty hard you got three large kingdoms around you and you must expand slowly because you get rebellions in places that arn’t your culture and scince you Basque if you switch to Absolute cognatic you get the femle ruler and the female heir malus more often. My character is Emperor of the Roman Empire. Christianity has been united back into Orthodoxy. All of the world has been taken over, minus some European kings and dukes still grasping for their lands. This was all done before the CM Update as the Byzantine Emperor, with 70+ vassal kings (about 110 vassals total) and a retinue worth 700 000+. Other Empires have not been
Bought a few expansions last sale, I guess tributarys were added in horselords. My question is, if I have a Dejure claim on a title, and the title holder is a tributary of a larger realm, will the larger realm attack me in response to my Dejure war? Moar info: Charlemagne start date, I am Petty king of Wessex. Usurped Ducy of Kent, but the (now) Earl of Kent is a tribute of Mercia. Mercia
The game will create the titles for the duchies of Northumberland, Lancaster, Mercia, East Anglia, Essex, Wessex, Hwicce, and Kent. So your first son might end up with York, Northumberland, and Lancaster while your second son has Mercia, Essex, and East Anglia and your third son gets Wessex, Hwicce and Kent. At the start of this in real life Mercia is basically ruled by Wessex, they are a kingdom in name only. The titles just dont match up because Wessex isn’t considered a kingdom at the start. Your screenshot doesn’t really show anything. Also there are events associated with jihads/crusades now in holy fury. Event crusaders much showing up with piles of event troops to their name. I had jean de’arc (not her but a female much like her) show up out of nowhere and take england from wessex with 15k event troops around 800ad when wessex had maybe 3k to I have a multiplayer game in which i have a friend playing as west francia(idk how to spell) and im playing as mercia. also im very new at this game. any idea on how me and this friend could win?
Mercia+Wessex and either Surrey or Sussex gets you to that point with a bare minimum of warfare. Mop up however you see fit, preferably by offering vassalization.
In real life East Anglia fell so in game it is almost a doomed start. I played as Wessex and couldn’t save either EA or Northumbria, I did manage to save Mercia but it was hard work. You will need to be lucky. I would say pick your battles carefully only fight when you can win. The terrain in EA isn’t great but if you create a character give him either unyielding trait or
So, here I sit in my baronial hall (ex council house) in the much diminished capital of Mercia. It seems that this game has no idea where this is – thus I will take it upon myself to inform thee that it be Tamworth. So, I am thinking – it would be pretty good fun to play as a budding Offa in the actual place that I live in – and bought the game.
Wessex, it’s definitely extremely difficult during the first 5-10 years where Britannia is Blitzkrieged by Norsemen, But you have Mercia as a buffer state that you need to use to your advantage as long as possible, I found the petty kings attacking me were harassed by Mercian troops crossing through their territory trying ot get ot me. Hi, trying to play Wessex in 867 but I am not able to keep my dumnese down, in every start it is at 9/1 and if I give it to any random mayor my halfbrother will eventually rebel and stomp me down
I have a bad habit of quitting my game after the first 200 or so years. So maybe posting about it will make me wanna finish it :P. I’m starting a fresh game with CK2+ and a few other mods as King of Essex. I’ve given chosen_descent traits to myself, King Sigeric of Essex(1red), Charlemagne(blue), and Sigurdr Ring(teal) (and all of their children). Obviously
The vikings always have like atleast 3k event troops running around and they are attacking all of england with they 6k armies, no way of defeating them. How can you play in england without getting conquered?
