I’m shocked George Michael isn’t in the top 10. With so many huge acts leaving (George, Whitney, U2, Springsteen, Prince, Elton John) I’m starting to wonder who the hell have beaten them! Of course there are some obvious ones, but this countdown really is full of surprises. I also think of the 90s more in terms of album acts than the 80s so I think the top of this list will be very interesting and quite different to an equivalent album sales list. EDIT: I’ve just remembered Madonna has charted every year from 1984 to 2006. She didn’t chart at all in 2007, 2010 and 2011, clearly getting lazy!
