Got home today, and noticed a bird dropping on the antenna (Good aiming for the bird). Grabbed a paper towel and wiped it upwards slightly, and the plastic cover came off. At first, I thought oh no big deal, I’ll just clip it back to place. I needed to balance a laptop fan once because a blade broke off. It had an uneven number of blades but it was divisible by 3 so I broke off 2 other blades 1/3 apart while i ordered a replacement. I would check a different dealership, mine antenna broke off once prior, and the dealership covered it, though it took 6 weeks to get it. My shark fin came off back around April or maybe even earlier, don’t exactly know. My radio still works just fine, it’s been thousands of miles on road trips daily driving, tons of wind and rain and it’s fine, I’ve been trying to get one from a U-Pull junk yard but have struck out so far.

I have a Hyundai/KIA product and apparently the shark fin antenna on the roof is prone to being broken off at car washes (I would only go to a touchless one). I always try and hand wash my car, but in the winter where I live this isn’t possible.

The shark fin is still intact; it’s just loose. The navigation and everything else are functioning because I applied waterproof tape around it. How much of a job is it to remove the old shark fin unit, and by having a panoramic sunroof does that make the task harder? It came off during a car wash by hand. I can see the screws that are supposed to go in each hole, but the plastic holes broke, so there’s nothing to screw them back into. Hi, I have a 2016 Sonata Sport and the shark fin antenna cover fell off during a car wash, it’s the antenna with the fin sticking up so none of the replacements online seem to work. I searched around these forums and didn’t see a good replacement. Any idea on what cover I can do to cover/replace this without replacing the entire antenna unit? I have jb weld epoxy already. If the shark fin antenna is pulled up, pushing it back may not reseal the gasket properly. Remove the antenna carefully by unscrewing the mounting nut inside the headliner.
