What makes you think it’s underrated? It’s a high tier weapon, invaluable for pyro builds. As you`re doing a pyro build, you should have high faith. So you can cast Lightning Blade and kill Midir. There is close to zero chance of beating Midir as a pyromancer. Because CBV and GCFO deals lest than 500 damage with all the rings on at 40 int and fth. So you`re better off using Lightning Blade on a weapon and kill him, or use I know Scar and Onyx blade are the usual ones, but I believe they’re further on and I’d rather choose something less ideal and have more variety than everyone else who uses them (plus I don’t currently have the DLC).

A quality build with a quality weapon will do better. Yeah i know, and i can use some pyro too. But is it worth using onyx over a bks or claymore for example? I’m a little scary about onyx‘ damage (3 split damage). Most of the damage output is Dark, which isn’t often resisted by much if at all. The onyx blade WA animation does damage and it feels really slick to hit an enemy with the buff animation. The parting flame does extra damage+poise damage on short range and you can really fuck up enemies with a black flame or great combustion. So i am new to the souls series and i am at level 72 and i just reach anor londor and using Onyx blade and pyro and faith i just wanna know what’s the best stats for this bulid

Pyro Weapons There are two weapons with particular leanings towards the Pyromancer build: the Onyx Blade and the Witch’s Locks. Onyx Blade – This weapon is not only great on a Pyro build for its low STR/DEX requirements (14/12) it is also the longest Greatsword of the bunch. The intelligence and faith softcaps for pyromancy (because remember, TC asked about a pyro /onyx blade build) are 40/40. As an aside, but interesting note, the softcaps for dark sorceries with an Izalith Staff are 45/45. 35/35 will be short-changing pyromancy spells by a fair margin. I played ringed city for the first time with my onyx blade pyro build, Demon Prince takes little to no damage with pyro spells and onyx blade hits like 30% of an exiled curved sword would . Midir was impossible for me with a pyro so I scummed it with Pestilent Mercury. Extremely minimal stat requirements, amazing pyro scaling, and good old reliable straight sword 1HR1 spam moveset. Lothric Knight variant is slightly better (tiny bit more damage, longer blade), but the dex requirement goes up significantly and for a dedicated pyro build I’d rather save those 8 points for more important stats.
