Montebello Design Centre is a non profit organization established from a financial and property bequest from Cecil Michaelis. The project is situated in the old farm buildings of the historic site of Montebello in Newlands. The buildings and land have a colourful history, being the birthplace of Ohlssens Brewery and Continental China.

The Design Centre is housed beneath giant, spirited trees in the historic buildings of Montebello, the birthplace of Ohlssons Brewery and Continental China dating back to the 1690s, which forms part of a shared vision for the reinvention of historic Newlands as a recreational precinct including sporting venues, mills and breweries, all HOMEY goes inside the homes and studios of individuals creating art, fashion, beauty, design, architecture, and food. This digital magazine is developed pixel by pixel as a refined platform that pairs the accessibility of modern media with the tactility and substance of a print magazine.

The design centre has lots of different crafts/crafter on offer. The restaurant is always busy and without power today, I guess they used gas to boil water for tea and coffee (not the greatest tasting coffee in the opinion of my friend and I).
