Magic Vs Physical :: Divinity: Original Sin 2 General Discussions

Physical with a side of magic you’d use two weapons. High physical damage you want a two handed weapon. If you want to deal low damage and stack a redundant amount of armor that really has little tactical value, go weapon and shield. Very much, I do not recommend a weapon and shield build. Not with strength anyway. I would like to get some opinions on my builds and party composition . Also, I’m not sure about the which races lend themselves to different builds or classes (e.g. dwarves are good melee DPS, etc.), so please share your thoughts on that as well. Here is what I have in mind for a Classic mode playthrough. I’ve put the most thought into the main character. I’ve wanted How practical is it to play a Staff user with Warfare? Was toying around with the idea of a Necro + Elemental (Not sure which, probably Earth) character who sticks to melee combo most of the time. She’d do both Physical and Magical damage as needed, and I’d splash in a couple points of Warfare to go along with it (1 or 2 points, for skills).
So each point in Int provides a 5% int-based damage increase, and each point in a respective elemental school provides a 5% damage increase for spells of said school. Are these the same buffs in terms of pure damage output? I have 3 magic schools on my main mage and decided to invest minimum points into each (2) and pump the rest into Polymorph to get the Hello, I just started playing the game a few things are still unclear. Since you have to deplete either side of your enemies armor before you can do damage them the intuitive thing to do is to set you whole team to attack either fully magical or fully physical. Do i see this right or is there some benefit to having for example three mages and one warrior?

I have tried all the characters extensively in the „hotseat arena“ solo and vs AI and I would like to have a staff wielding mage as my main. I find Aero/Hydro more coherent visually (and the glasses NPC uses a staff instead of wands), but I found that in the arena the Pyro/Geo guys are insanely strong, like it’s not even fair to compare the two. Even though it probably Trying to decide between Fire/Geo or Air/Water. Fire and Air both seem to have some really fun spells! Fire and Geo’s dps spells seem more fun, both look to have cool utility. Like the teleports from air. Do you have enough points to The community is for the discussion of Divinity: Original Sin 2 and other games by Larian Studios
The low physical armor mages get from their equipment is offset by the high physical armor on shields. By mid game mages are usually just using all their actions on using skills and rarely actually attacking with thier equipped weapon, nor So, I’ve not read anything about this before and just noticed it.. figured I’d put it out there for others to play with. When you’re putting your stats into things like weapon skills vs warfare.. both add 5% damage. I’ve been mostly putting points into weapon stats as it seemed objectively better, it not only adds 5% damage but also other bonuses like crit chance / dodge /
I’m starting to plan my next play through and I just can’t make up my mind how I want to build my support character. I know both can work equally well but I would love to hear your experiences and suggestions on how to build a support character. The basic premise here is a Hydro / Geo focus whose main role is to restore Physical Armor, Magic Armor and Vitality Hey everyone, I am currently running a Summoner/Mage build (Only like level 8 currently) and I am looking for a good build to go with. Should I be using wands? What should I focus my points in? What spells should I be using/looking for? Also I am playing co-op so if that means anything. My friend is a knight, Lohse is a fighter/healer, and Sebille is an assassin using daggers. Thanks.

Thanks. 2v2 magic and phsyical dmg split is ok but needlessly harder than a pure physical or pure magical party. Replace your dedicated mage/enchanter with a bow user focus on warfare and ranged over huntsman (ie get around 2-3 points into huntsman for skill use and instead focus on warefare and then ranged for better non situational
On the edge of playing on tactician because I do like a challenge. I do not need any help with builds because I wanna try a few my self. Is a 2 phy and 2 magic party nice to have when playing on tactician? Thanks! The latter 2 only happens if the target has 0 magic armor and get poisoned/burned by the poison/fire surface, but many early game enemies have no magic armor so it works out. All of those for a single 2 AP autoattack. Surface and status damage are stat independent, so while they’re extremely good early game, once you get more stats Before I start a new game like this I was wanting some opinions of going doing a lone wolf campaign of 1 physical character and 1 magical character. Is this possible to do or should you stay with one or the other?
I’m wanting to make a character that’s mainly in someones face for melee but will use magic to cc people who have high physical armor. My question however is, what weapon type would be better, the high crit and high damage two hander or Divinity: Original Sin 2 All Discussions Screenshots Artwork Broadcasts Videos Workshop News Guides Reviews Divinity: Original Sin 2 > General Discussions > Topic Details Wakane Oct 17, 2017 @ 8:40am Hello, I wonder how special arrows work? Do they do elemental and physical damage (basic damage + arrow damage), or just do they focus on given element? I mean using fire arrow which deals for example 100 dmg additional basic
backstabbing, is there ever a time when 1h becomes more effective than dual weapon? attacking with two weapons of equal damage is greater than critting with one weapon. Backstabbing with two weapons gets two crits. Does 1h ever become effective in this way?
Is getting dodge up to 50% or more (by maxing out dual wield and taking parry master) worth it vs the drawback of less damage if you max out warfare instead? From what I have read, the damage boost from maxing warfare (killing enemies faster) is much better/useful than having a high dodge% (even say 80 or 90%), because enemies will still hit you a good
The consensus seems to be that you should have 2 magic and 2 physical damage dealers, but I don’t understand why that’s better than having just 4 of either when splitting damage means that you have to get through both magical and physical armor. The general consensus seems to be that the most effective party builds focus entirely on one damage type (either physical or magic). I’ve followed this mentality for the majority of my playthroughs, but I’d really like to try creating a four character party that deals both physical and magical damage. Unfortunately, the only viable way to do this seems to be to have two If you are running a physical focused party, try to summon your incarnate and totems in blood whenever possible, as it gives them more physical damage than normal, as well as an extra attack on the incarnate. Do not use the dimensional bolt, as it is always going to deal magic damage. Totems on plain ground will still do physical damage, but less than blood.
I’m playing long wolf with rogue and ranger (two of my favourite classes) they are both physical damage oriented. But I see a lot of special arrows and grenades that are resisted by magic armour. Since I won’t be able to strip them of that defence, will they come useful at all? I guess what I’m asking is; will there be enemies with only physical armour later in the game?
I have a thing for battlemages but I suck at building them. Need advice in creating a melee caster, preferably Prince or Fane, considering the rest of the party: Ifan – 2H melee DD with warfare/poly/necro; Sebille – ranger with some warfare for necessary spear engagements and some non-dagger scoundrel skills; Beast – not fully decided yet, but likely a summoner with an Magic is harder to use in DOS2 than physical becasue resistances and becasue CCing cannot be done until armour stripped so getting to where the key combos work takes skill and practice.

If you’re a magic user you’ll want some intelligence, but it depends upon your build. If you’re mostly a warrior with a few spells, then only increase intelligence a little and spend more on the magic skill; if you’re mostly a mage, then intelligence and memory are very important. For my first playsthrough I wanted to cover most of the skill categories between the four characters so I could experence most of what the combat has to offer, instead of making a more focused party. I have two melee characters: a dualist/assassin and two-handed/necro (death knight). I have two mages: pyro/geo and hydro/aero. The dualist uses a little bit of polymorph
It can be, but you still need to pay attention to physical vs magic damage. Geo spells can be made to deal physical sometimes, but you need to convert healing undead with poison into damage using the decay effect for that. Its alright for CC though. Aero/Hydro is where the CC is really at.
