The Isle of Man horse tram service is to be terminated after 140 years, Douglas council has confirmed. A spokesman for Douglas Borough Council said the service, which has been in existence since 1876, was “no longer financially viable”.
The tram service was introduced in 1876, and closed in 2016 after making a loss of £263,000 the previous year, before a successful campaign for its return. Tynwald is due to sit on Tuesday morning.
