Installing 69/70 Mach 1 Rear Window Trim

There are no studs that stick thru to the inside on a 69/70 fastback. He will need to find a trim removal tool, or make one out of some sheet metal. KD tools makes a nice one, basically a handle with a flat hook that you slide between the window and the trim. I am looking to replace my interior window trim on my 68 GTX. When I am looking for sources I can only find the 4 piece set without the corners. However, I can find several sources that have the 6 piece set with the corners for a 68 Coronet. Yeah, it’s well known that reproduction window trim is very lackluster. I took my window trim to a local guy who carefully removed all the dents and polished it up. Looked beautiful. Of course, then I dented it up installing it. I had never done it before. Lesson learned. Likely there is someone local who can repair and polish your Guys, do you have any link or directions for installing the rear glass and sail panels on the 70 FB.Also for those that have personally done it how difficult is it to do.I do all my own other work on the car and am considering attempting this on my own . Today we remove all the glass out of Ruby in preparation for Acid Dipping. We will be removing the windshield, door and side glass as well as the rear window with all of the accompanying trim I have a 69 Mach 1, does the rear glass need to be removed to correctly install new Sail Panels? Thanks!

In the world of GM automotive restoration there are few tasks more frustrating than installing rear window trim on a 1966/67 A-Body 2 door hardtop. The tunnel rear window design is very elegant, but fitting the trim can be vexing. I just finished a ’69 Mach 1- I put the panels in first, then the glass with the gasket afterwards. When you rope in the backglass, the rubber will pull through the body and lay nicely right over the interior trim. I was thinking about installing some rear window louvers on my 69 Mach1. The tunn I installed my ’69 windows basically the same with the following exceptions: I loosely installed the lower bracket to the guide rail before lowering the guide rail into the body, leaving the guide rail unbolted to the body. I guided the window rollers onto the guide rail as I lowered the window glass into the body, then raised the rail as required to bolt it to the body.

I have installed new glass and have attempted to install the polished GM stainless trim. When I press the stainless trim down on the clip it needs a bump with the palm of my hand (you cannot press it down and snap it in place with your DMT rear window reveal trim clip set for 68-69 A body Barracuda Fastback. 1968 68 1969 69 Barracuda FASTBACK ONLY Note: 67 Barracudas don’t need trim clips because they didn’t use stainless trim around the windshield or rear windows.
