Hey guys, I recently rode a 2014 Chief Vintage at a local Dealership. Very nice bike. I am looking into buying a Classic/Vintage next year. However I’d like to know if anyone ever had troubles with the air-cooled 111/116 Thunderstroke. I read a few articles online about the Chief Vintage. I suppose a lifter might be an issue but that is uncommon on the Thunderstroke engine. One thing it might be is the gearing on the cams. These are offset gears to take the backlash out of the valvetrain. I have heard of a few of these where the offset on the gears was bad and the movement of the valvetrain with the gear backlash caused noises like you Indian Chief (2014-2020) maintenance schedule and service intervals for the Thunder Stroke 111 engine bikes.
