Fountains Abbey parkrun started on 1st March 2014. Since then 34,608 participants have completed 175,783 parkruns covering a total distance of 878,915 km, including 24,586 new Personal Bests.
Search for Fountains Abbey parkrun on social media and you will often see it described as one of the prettiest parkruns with many people having it high on their to-do list. This Easter weekend I had the chance to check it out for myself. Several years ago our friends moved to just outside Chepstow in [] Fountains Abbey is rightly hailed far and wide as one of the most spectacular venues for a parkrun. The week leading up to Saturday, and indeed the days after, were, however, not so good as cloud and showers swept in from the west. Since then 31,381 participants have completed 162,896 parkruns covering a total distance of 814,480 km, including 23,098 new Personal Bests.

Fountains Abbey parkrun Event number 309 28th August 2021 It was a beautifully morning down at the Abbey for parkrun 309. Clearly perfect running conditions as our local athlete Toby Osman ran a new course record with ease and style in a time of 15.09.
I think Fountains Abbey is one of those parkruns that’s on everyone’s bucket lists – considered the most beautiful in the UK and all that – but for me and Geth, it had been taunting us for a while as we see signs for it every time we drive down via Harrogate to visit family. After a couple of weekends away it was good to return to Fountains Abbey this morning.
