Hi, I recently downloaded FAH again due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. I noticed a few things could be improved in the current web-client UI, are you interested in contributions for this?
We’re delighted to announce the full release of our new client software! We named this release “Bastet” after the Ancient Egyptian goddess associated with protection from disease. From: FoldingAtHome/fah-web-client-bastet#57 @Hou5e wrote: After restarting the Client, with a partially completed WU (like at 50% or more completed), the WU ETA completion is inaccurate and says 5-15 minutes left for about 1 hour, on a

This could be a problem for others since cloning VMs or Docker instances is quite common. One solution is to make sure to delete /var/lib/fah-client/client.db before cloning a F@H instance. Another possibility would be for the client to try to detect the machine ID and regenerate its ID if it detects a change in the ID of the machine

A core part of the client access process assumes that the user will go to http://app.foldingathome.org. This works, but it assumes that the FAH Client exists on 127.0.0.1. After a reboot, rocm-clinfo successfully reports Agents and lists my 7800 XT. However, the FAH webclient lists my GPUs (dGPU as well as iGPU) as “unsupported”. When I start folding, only the CPU cores are working but not my dGPU. And yes, I checked that the discrete GPU is enabled in the FAH client.
Really, fah-web-client-bastet needs to be improved so that it can handle larger log files with out bogging down. As „root“, replace the alpha version of fah-client executable by the beta version of fah-client in /usr/bin/ . Give to root the right to only read the /usr/bin/ folder. Restart your PC.
It would be nice to see where I am in the leaderboards for my team and all users There are multiple users experiencing this issue that would be willing to provide additional information, but note that often when it’s in this state, web control loses connection to the client even on the local machine, „no resources“ and thus pulling logs that way isn’t always possible, so we need some guidance on how to retrieve Folding@home client frontend. I installed the debug version on the Ubuntu host and see nothing that looks different. (level 5) One aside is that all these systems are LXC containers, not sure if that matters, but I have never encountered issues with that in the past and v7 had no issues.
My FAH Debian Buster server is headless. With v7, I could access the basic client GUI remotely and while its functionality was limited, it was something. This issue should be in fah-web-client-bastet as it relates to the frontend. Removing PPD would upset a lot of people as this is the metric most important to many. Base credit or estimated credit don’t tell you much alone because actual value of the WU depends a lot on how long it takes to complete. See also: FoldingAtHome/fah-web I am running multiple workstations that have far more cores than the system will allow. In v7 there was a cap of 32 cores but you could add more slots to fully engage the processor. I also tried connecting to the HTTP configuration via reverse proxy, but the web interface only shows „No folding machines found. Login or install the Folding@home client software.“ even when confirming that fah-client is running and its logs show the HTTP get request.
The web frontend would not be talking directly to the backend in this case. But then we have to route a lot of packets from the users computer to foldingathome.org and back.
