The country has been dealing with intense armed conflicts that have significantly escalated since October 2023, resulting in a 50% increase in displacement over 6 months. In 2023, the conflict resulted in 2,164 reported civilian casualties, including 745 fatalities, Six Dutch Relief Alliance partners are joining forces to respond to the large numbers of Sudanese refugees crossing the border in eastern Chad. The newly arriving refugees increase the pressure on basic services and natural resources that were already scarce in the area. The Dutch Relief Alliance Joint Response in Gaza aims to provide urgent humanitarian assistance, protect vulnerable communities, alleviate the burden of food insecurity, restore essential healthcare services, and address the severe mental health and psycho-social challenges facing those affected by the crisis. B-READY (Building Resilient, Adaptive and Disaster Ready Communities) is a project that focuses on enabling a shift from humanitarian response after disasters to pre-emptive response through the following innovations: Impact-based disaster forecasting Pre-emptive cash transfer as part of early action Aligning systems, policy and financing for better disaster response B-Ready
As a result of the escalation of violence on 7 October 2023, a humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza. People have limited or no access to basic needs such as water, food, electricity, healthcare and shelter. The Gaza Acute Crisis Response Consortium in cooperation with their local partners, provides life-saving activities in Gaza including water, sanitation and hygiene support, The Joint Response To optimise aid coverage of the area, the Dutch Relief Alliance partners are responding in different townships in Mandalay and Sagaing, with a strong focus on Mandalay, closest to the earthquakes epicentre. Through the response, the Dutch Relief Alliance covers needs in WASH, Health, Protection and Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance.

In 2021, the Dutch Relief Alliance responded directly to increasing crises caused by conflict, climate change and the after-effects of COVID-19. Interventions focused on providing shelter, strengthening health and water infrastructure, and provision of mental healthcare. At the same time, we assisted the most vulnerable people with food aid and cash transfers. In total we De Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) bestaat uit 14 Nederlandse hulporganisaties, waaronder Plan International. AFGHANISTAN PROTRACTED JOINT RESPONSE
Funded by Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA), Oxfam’s partner Al Tadhamon Foundation for Development, implemented the Yemen Joint Response (YJR) in Lahj Governorate (Radfan and Halimain districts) and targeted 213 households with cash assistance of EUR 500.

THE DRA RESPONSE The five Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) members participating in the Afghanistan Joint Response contribute to the life-saving protection and assistance needs of conflict, natural disaster affected and internally displaced persons, returning Afghans and their host community. In response to this urgent crisis, the Dutch Relief Alliance has launched an Acute Joint Response of three million euros, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
