If someone wanted to improve their thinking, why should they study philosophy and not just learn logic and critical thinking? How much do academic philosophers read on average? Sorry if this a question adjacent to philosophy as per Rule 1, but out of curiosity: How much do academic philosophers read? I’ve been very fortunate this summer to have the opportunity to just read and read a lot (or what I think to be a lot?) and it is really quite rewarding.
