Creating A Camera File Using The Ni Camera File Generator
Di: Ava
I desperately need some documentation of the camera file syntax used in the .icd files. The NI Camera File Generator does not provide access to the Master Clock frequency and some of the other functions so I am hoping that someone has some information about the syntax and different parameters that Ive tried using NI Camera File Generator and also configured all the attributes but it doesnt seem to work. I can see the commands working in the test serial settings but it doesnt seem to work when i change it in Measurement & Automation Explorer.
This file is not available from NI for my camera, so I am using the Camera File Generator.By only setting the resolution, scan type and bits per pixel, I am able to grab snapshots and continuously grab frames from the camera. Now I need to set the other Attributes of the camera under Camera Control, but I don’t know what these should be.
Hello Ftaga, Your issue is quite surprising. I can think of three possible explanations for this: PC Parameter or Conflict: The issue might stem from a parameter or conflict within your PC. Although this is unlikely, it’s worth ruling out. Could you try running your test on another PC to check th This camera file will allow you simulate a camera. With this simulation you can set the following camera attributes: Image Size, Scan Type, Test Patter, Tap Configuration, Frame Blanking – Lines, and Bit Depth. Load the camera file representing the tap configuration of the camera you want to simulate. I’m using Camera File Generator to create an ICD file for my Nytech interlaced camera, using IMAQ 1422 RS422 Frame Grabber. How do I set Interlace parameter to YES ? I tried to acquire an image of 640×480 but I got an image of 640×240. Could anyone with Camera File Generator experience, please help.

I have attempted to create my own configuration file for the camera using the latest verson of the NI Camera File Generator (or at least, modifying the PT-41-04M60-med file) but other than fixing the width parameter, I am unsure of what to change, and changing the width parameter has not solved the problem. Hi, I have a custom-built camera that I intend to use with a NI PCIe-1427 CameraLink frame grabber. I create a camera file using the NI Camera File Generator and can run this camera with NI MAX. Details of camera communication: 1. As soon as the camera establishes a serial connection, it starts The NI Camera File Generator is a menu-driven, configuration environment for generating new camera files to equip cameras for which NI does not have files or adding features to existing NI camera files.
I have tried to generate a camera file using NI generator but I am stuck in the acquistion setup step. If there is any document on procedures for creating camera file, that will be helpful. To use the Camera link standard and obtain an image, you must first understand tap geometry. Tap geometry is the geometry the camera sensor uses to output data. This might be unique to each camera. It is important to have this information to make sure you are using a compatible frame grabber that can interpret the data coming from the camera as well as a I can’t find my camera, which seems logical since the Camera File Generator is supposedly for serial cameras (like Camera Link for instance), and not GigE. – I am using IMAQdx 16.0.0.

I am having trouble getting the NI Camera File Generator to even come up after installing the Labview Third Quarter 2009 Updates. I have tried un-installing and re-installling the NI Camera File Generator.
I recently downloaded a camera file from NI’s website or generated one from the Camera File Generator. Where do I need to place the *.icd file so I can configure my camera and my IMAQ hardware in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? We are in the process of developing a camera. I noticed in several threads there is an app used to generate the config file for MAX. ie NI Camera File Generator V2.0. How do I get a copy of this? Chet Knurek
NI Camera File Generator is a software tool that enables users to create or update camera files for Camera Link and parallel digital cameras. It includes serial communication commands and menus, precise camera timing and control signals, and more. This camera file will allow you simulate a camera. With this simulation you can set the following camera attributes: Image Size, Scan Type, Test Patter, Tap Configuration, Frame Blanking – Lines, and Bit Depth. Load the camera file representing the tap configuration of the camera you want to simulate. I went through the process of re-generating the file using the NI Camera File Generator and I’m not having much luck. I can’t select the camera attributes tab without Max throughing a noncontinuable exception.

By default when creating a camera file in the CFG, Power over Camera Link will be disabled. If the camera supports it (which it says it does), you’ll have to enable that in the file yourself by manually editing it if you want to use it.

Solution Currently NI Vision Acquisition Software, including the NI-IMAQ and NI-IMAQdx drivers, does not support GenCP for communicating with Camera Link cameras. You should still be able to acquire from these cameras as long as you have the correct camera file and you can configure the attributes of your camera using one of these methods: ASCII Serial
Thanks for your answer. I know how to open the camera files, what I didn’t know was where to find help on how to use the camera file generator because I need to use it to create a camera file for a camera that is not supported by NI, the JAI GO5000M-PMCL. With the help of the camera’s manuel I c

Hi, I have a little problem with my Basler cameras (Basler spL4096-140km). I want to add definition of the Area Of Interest (length and also starting pixel) to the camera file. However, I don´t know what should I write to the serial command. I was looking into the manual, but I just can´t figure it out from that tables. Did anyone try to add this into the camera file? I apologize instead NI Camera Configuration Wizard that I mentioned I meant NI Camera File Generator version 2.0.2. I use that software to send/receive the camera just to diagnosis the camera. Hello, I would like to use my camera MC1362 (Mikrotron) with the frame grabber PCIe-1433. But this camera is not yet suported by NI, so I don’t have any camera file for this camera. I tried to use the one done for the MC1310 (I have seen people on this forum who had used it with the frame grabber PCIe-1429 with success), but it didn’t work too. I tried then to
Can I use the NI Camera File Generator to send serial commands to my Camera Link camera to change its camera control attributes such as data mode, exposure time, tap geometry, etc?
No camera file exists in the NI Measurements and Computing Software, so I’ve been trying to create a camera file using the NI Camera File Generator (v2.0.4), but I’m not able to select the appropriate options (ie. 10 taps). When I search this forum I came across a post that says the camera is incompatible with NI/LabView. Now I make a camera file on PCI-1428, When I clicked the „grab“ the image on Camera File Generator, Timeout come up. I expect the reason that camera line_valid is not same timing of Pixel data.
