DevilDriver is a band I’ve always had somewhat of a soft spot for. Yes, I know, they’re baby’s first melodeath band and their discog in all honestly is pretty average, but when they’re good, they’re actually not just good but unironically amazing. This album would see DD distance themselves from their metalcore leanings for the most part (although there are Darauf folgte eine Pause von zwei Jahren, da man sich auf die Wiedervereinigung von COAL CHAMBER konzentrieren wollte. Dez Fafara may or may not be feeling the pinch to stay ahead of his peers coming into DEVILDRIVER’s seventh album, „Trust No One“. While much of what this band does classifies them as metalcore

Was habe ich mich auf „Trust No One“ gefreut, sorgte DEVILDRIVER doch in der Vergangenheit des Öfteren dafür, dass so manche Hausparty zu einem absoluten Abriss wurde. Doch spätestens nach „Beast“ war dieser ungemeine Überraschungseffekt, den Dez Fafara mit seiner Mannschaft einst auslöste After 6 albums and 13 years, DevilDriver hit their lowest ebb with Trust No One, a well intentioned record that unfortunately leads to fans of the band taking the title literally. DevilDriver was no longer a name synonymous with quality; instead you are left with a fanbase who are wary to be stung like they have been before. I went to see if the 2016 Devildriver with the record Trust No One changed a tiny bit. Nope. It didn’t. The album opener, “ Testimony Of Truth ”, delivers a nice mix of angry blastbeats straight away, lightning fast guitar work, and all topped with the familiar voice of Dez Fafara, the vocalist.

Über eine gehobene Durschnittsbewertung werden DEVIL DRIVER mit „Trust No One“ daher leider nicht hinauskommen. Dennoch kann ich die CD allen Fans als „Wiedereinstieg“ nach den enttäuschenden letzten beiden Alben empfehlen. Gesamtwertung: 7.0 Punkte
