Hi guys, I built my PC in 2018. I started having this issue last year. Sometimes during idle, my monitor will randomly go black and my PC fans start spinning at an incredible speed. It sounds like a jet engine. The only way to get out of this is to force-shutdown. It will reboot as normal, and So it happened while play Friday the 13th and PUBG. I had a GTX 970 and never had a problem and then I got a 1080ti 2 days ago and this has happened twice in the past 24 hours where the screen goes black and the fan speed goes to 100%. I have a 750w EVGA power supply so I doubt that’s the problem. Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?

BLACK SCREEN GPU FANS AT FULL SPEED CRASH [FIXED] I FIGURED IT OUT!!! I have been dealing with this for over 9 months with a BRAND NEW system I built following all of Linus Tech Tips videos. The system would just randomly crash from loading a game, all the way to being in the middle of a game and it crashes. I wasn’t even playing I have 2x140mm fans drawing air in and 1x120mm fan expelling air in my Fractal Define R6. All the system and CPU fans are PWM controlled so the system is whisper quiet, even yesterday when it was the hottest day of the year so far. My card isn’t ridiculously loud either or hot even under load. The screen goes black, then the graphics card fans go to full speed. I was on YouTube once when it happened and just started clicking around with the black screen and started playing a video. I couldn’t see anything but I could here the video playing, so I know the computer didn’t crash.

I had a MSI GTX 760 back in the day and used it for around 2 years with no problem, and then it started to give me this black screen and fans at full speed problem every once in a while. The frequency of this issue was also increasing to the point where I couldn’t open any game for more than 20 minutes. You can simply Google „4090 Black screen fans full speed“ and get a lot of results so I know I’m not the only one having this problem but no one seems to have found a reason why this is happening.
